I am most proud of the strength of the black community, my family, and my dearest friends.
You might be surprised to know that I published a cookbook this past year! It's called A DASH of Soul Food and focuses on heart-healthy food for the soul.
ElevateMeD is… a scholarship program that takes profound barriers like the cost of medical education and turns it into moments of growth. This program ELEVATES students to reach their maximum potential through financial support by providing a scholarship towards reaching a major academic and career goal - completing medical school - as well as financial literacy programing; mentorship and scholarship; and extending our network to include the vast ElevateMeD family with representation around the nation.

I chose to pursue a career in anesthesiology because I enjoy moment-to-moment decision making as well as the practical application of physiology and pharmacology. 3% of anesthesiologists are reported to identify as Black/African-American. Of those 3%, the majority are women.
